Dr. M.G.R Educational And Research Institute

A heritage of excellence

One of the Constituent Units of Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College was instituted 30 years ago by Thiru A.C.Shanmugam, a Philanthropist and great Educationalist who formulated several innovative projects for the up-liftment of rural and the urban folks alike and founded 3 Charitable and Educational Trusts at Chennai, Arni and Bangalore and is the driving force behind setting up the educational institutions.  

Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College and Thai Moogambigai Dental College and Hospital were founded in 1988 and 1991 respectively and were upgraded to a Deemed to be University status as Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, University in 2003.  A.C.S. Medical College and Hospital, Velappanchavadi, Chennai, started in 2008 has been brought in to the ambit, as a constituent unit, of Deemed to be University by MHRD Notification.

The Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has graded Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute – Deemed to be University under GRADED AUTONOMUS STATUS  in Category – II.

• Admissions are through Entrance Examination MGREEE/NEET on all – India basis.

Shiksha ‘O’ Anusandhan

From a humble beginning over two decades ago, the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (Deemed University) in Bhubaneswar has grown into a shining academic edifice where quality education and innovative research are the buzzwords. The university, popularly known as SOA, has been churning out professionals in varied fields ready to face the requirements and challenges of different sectors.

Granted deemed to be university status on July 17, 1997, SOA has been in the focus as it was ranked 24th in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the HRD Ministry in the university category this year.

SOA’s focus being on quality academics and research, it has set up 13 research centers and 42 research laboratories to conduct research in 18 identified thrust areas. Work of SOA’s faculty and research scholars get published regularly in reputed peer reviewed international journals. The university has 3846 Scopus Indexed publications to its credit till now with an H-Index of 46.

The socially inclusive university has nine institutes under it imparting education in engineering, medicine, dental sciences, management, nursing, hospitality and tourism management, hospital administration, pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology, law and agriculture.
